If you are an aviation enthusiast, EAA AirVenture will satisfy even the most discerning pilot’s pallet. Held for one week each year at EAA headquarters in Oshkosh Wisconsin, at Wittman Regional Airport, AirVenture (more commonly known as ‘Oshkosh’) is the worlds premier aviation experience with an amazing attendance of over 3/4 of a million people each year and a mind-blowing amount of aircraft in all shapes and sizes.

From the moment the gates open at 7 a.m. you will find yourself walking among miles of beautiful aircraft including homebuilts, antiques, classics, warbirds, ultralights and rotorcraft. But AirVenture is more then just a showing of aircraft. It’s a community that for one week each year, comes together to celebrate the spirit of aviation and to share in each others knowledge

Sights and Sounds

Throughout each day there are seminars, guest appearances, and workshops taking place at AirVenture. You could learn how to build a plane, go meet an Ace fighter pilot, tour the EAA museum, or sit down with Harrison Ford and talk about the history of General Aviation. Almost anything you can imagine takes place during the one week of hustle and bustle. Yet, for as busy as you may get during the day be sure to pause, look skyward, and take time out to experience the afternoon Airshow.

Afternoon Airshow

From hilarious acts of ‘crazy’ pilots to the aerobatic might of the worlds best aerial performers, the sky fills with the sounds of aircraft flipping and spiraling in dizzying spectacles. And as soon as you think it couldn’t get any better, prepare to brace yourself for The Warbird Spectacular when the military might of past and present comes to life.

Watch the likes of P-51 Mustangs, F4U Corsairs, Japanese Zeros, B-17 bombers, and F-86 Sabre’s streak the skies and perform explosive strafing runs down Wittman’s main air strip. Then witness the Wall of Fire, as 1600 feet of gasoline and dynamite erupt in an amazing display and send a pulsing heat wave roaring through the crowd!

More Then You Realize

Did we forget to mention this is probably only 1/2 of what happens at AirVenture each day? It doesn’t matter if you are a pilot or not, AirVenture has something for everyone of every age. And prepare to hear if you’re not a pilot, “…that’ll change after you leave Oshkosh!” Everyone is excited to tell you their story, their love of aviation, and what a huge part of their life it plays.

So if a Piper J-3 Cub conjures up scenic visions of lazy days in the sky or an F-22 Raptor excites your passion to become a fighter pilot in the military; it’s all waiting for you in Oshkosh Wisconsin at EAA’s AirVenture.
